A practical checklist for comparing aesthetics courses: entry requirements, qualifications, supervised practice, full costs and booking arrangements in Essex.
Choosing an aesthetics course in Essex is easier when you know what to compare. Before booking, look beyond the course name and ask about entry requirements, the qualification awarded, practical training, the full cost and the support available afterwards.
If you are considering training in Romford or Leigh-on-Sea, use this checklist to prepare for a conversation with an academy. It will help you choose a course that fits your experience, goals and availability.
1. Start with your experience and career goals
Are you starting a new career, building on beauty qualifications or already working in aesthetics? Write down the qualifications you currently hold and the treatments you would like to learn. A beginner's route and an advanced course can have very different entry requirements.
Ask the academy to check your eligibility before you pay. If a course offers progression to another qualification, confirm the entry requirements for that next stage too.
2. Check exactly what qualification you will receive
Ask for the full qualification title, awarding organisation and details of assessment. Find out whether the outcome is a regulated qualification, a CPD certificate or an academy certificate, and what that means for your intended route.
Ofqual maintains the Register of Regulated Qualifications. You can use it to look up a qualification rather than relying only on an accreditation logo. A course being described as accredited does not answer every question about its scope or recognition.
3. Ask how practical training and assessment work
Online theory can help you fit study around other commitments, but ask what happens during the practical stage. Find out how learners are supervised, how competence is assessed and what happens if you need further support or a reassessment.
- How much of the course is theory and how much is in-person practice?
- What consultation, hygiene and complication-recognition skills are covered?
- How is practical experience organised?
- Who teaches and assesses the course?
- What support can you access after the training days?
You can meet the Moon training team before discussing your course options.
4. Compare the full cost, not just the deposit
A booking deposit is not necessarily the full course price. Ask for the total payable, when any balance is due, and whether assessment fees, materials, equipment or reassessments cost extra. Read the cancellation and refund terms before committing.
For example, Moon's VTCT Level 3 Access to Aesthetics course has a full price of £2,999. The £500 booking deposit leaves a £2,499 balance. Ask our sales team to confirm the payment arrangements for your booking.
Also allow for costs after training, such as insurance, further education, premises and equipment. Our guide to aesthetic practitioner earnings and business costs explains why clinic turnover and personal take-home income are different.
5. Check insurance and the scope of your training
Before booking, ask your intended insurer whether it accepts your existing qualifications and the proposed course for the treatments you plan to offer. Ask for the answer in writing where possible.
Training, insurance and professional registration are different things. Completing a course does not automatically give you prescribing rights, qualify you as a nurse or mean every treatment is within your competence. Check the current requirements for your intended work and location.
6. Confirm your academy location and practical dates
Consider travel, time away from work and how practical attendance fits around your other commitments. Confirm the location for your own booking rather than assuming every course runs at every academy on the same dates.
Moon has academies in Romford and Leigh-on-Sea. View our academy addresses and directions, then WhatsApp our sales team to discuss current course availability and your preferred location. Practical dates are arranged with the team.
7. Understand when your theory access arrives
Ask how theory access is provided and when you should expect it. At Moon, our team currently sends access manually and will be in touch within 24 hours to arrange access and discuss practical training dates. Paying online does not currently trigger an automatic theory login.
Which Moon course should you explore first?
If you are starting without previous experience, explore the VTCT Level 3 Access to Aesthetics course and ask our team to check your starting point. If you are considering progression into skin rejuvenation, view the VTCT Level 4 skin rejuvenation course and confirm that you meet its entry requirements.
Compare all Moon training courses to see the available options. Choose around your intended work and qualifications rather than selecting only the shortest or cheapest course.
